Pangaea and the Garden of Eden

For many years I have wondered about the formation of the continents. Having gotten a science degree after being saved; I would always leave my imagination open for alignment with God's Word when learning new principles. A study of Plate tectonics will tell you that the continents drifted over millions of years. But what I've always known; is the principle of "What do you know--versus--what do you believe." In other words the difference between observation and theory. Take the grand canyon as an example. Scientist will say it took millions of years for erosion to create it. But what can they observe versus what do they believe? Scientist can observe today's wind and water erosion rates along the canyon. Then they extrapolate to the size of the canyon and create a formula to find time. But built into this is two assumptions. One is the belief in Naturalism. That there is no supernatural and there is no God. Second, they believe that natural processes have stayed the same over time. But the story of the flood in the bible tells us that things did not stay the same and that God is real. When the flood came, it moved billions of tons of water over and then off the land. Thus changing many aspects of the landscape, including forming grand canyons.

Bible Scholars also suspect that the flood might have done many other things as well. Genesis 7:6-12 "Now Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water came upon the earth...on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst open and the flood gates of the sky were opened." Although the bible doesn't say, I know that God could with just a word of his mouth or a swipe of his hand, completely and instantly moved the crust of the earth. He could released great aquifers from below, changed gravity, and change the principles of momentum. In a blink of an eye, He could move the very foundations of the earth over night. The movement of the continents during the flood could answer a number of questions when studying the bible. This could explain animal migration and fossil records. It could explain ideas about the the Garden of Eden being in the center of His creation. And it might explain the importance of Jerusalem, Israel, and the place where the Creator chose to send his Son. Open you imagination but keep your faith.

Okay, I read above again. Yes, I like that idea, Eden/Jerusalem at the center. Seems very likely...

I like this. But where do you think Eden was? I'm trying to recreate/understand pangea before the flood for my next novella... John Evans jjjsh2001@yahoo.com

Replying to

Literal interpretation of scripture and Genesis puts the time of the Garden of Eden around 8000-6000 BC by tracking the Genealogies. But there are still some gaps left in there. And lots of room for faith and imagination. Good luck with your novel.
